Challenge Turku hosted a memorable race weekend in Finland’s oldest city! Day one kicked off with the Junior Challenge race and first off the blocks was the child + adult race. Next up was the Finnish Youth Championship (U19, U17 and U15) Super Sprint race which also provided an opportunity for age groupers and those new to triathlon to race.
Sunday‘s Middle Distance National Championship race enjoyed excellent conditions. In the open/elite category, the men’s winner was Panagiotis Bitados (GRE) in 3:41:42, second, and the Finnish national champion, was Juha-Matti Halonen (FIN) in 3:52:03 followed by Tero Setola (FIN) in 3:56:53. In the National Championships, Jussi Manninen (FIN) won bronze with 3:57:54 after Halonen and Setola.
In the women’s race, Finnish national champion was Tiina Pohjalainen (FIN) in 4:10:53, second Minna Koistinen (FIN) 4:20:21 and third Minttu Hukka (FIN) 4:23:16.
