Presentations at the World Triathlon Congress in Pontevedra this week revealed more details on the upcoming Triathlon World Tour, including 30 more T50 and T100 races below the Championship top tier.   

Addressing National Federations, the Executive Board and voting members ahead of the season’s World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) Finals this weekend, World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany and PTO CEO Sam Renouf announced: 

• Initial T50 Cup and T100 Challenger calendars featuring 30 races with professional and amateur racing. 

• Plus a return to Quiberon on 19-20 June for the T50 World Championship Tour and confirmation of a date in Frejus-St Raphael for the third French Riviera T100 World Championship race on 15 May. Together with the Championship level races already announced on 24 July, this means 48 races are now in the 2027 calendar, with several more to be added before the end of the year.

The T100 Challenger events announced today come from Challenge Family and will race under Triathlon World Tour names from 2027, with their existing organisers and host cities. 

Talking about the initial T50 Cup and T100 Challenger calendars, Sam Renouf said: “The Triathlon World Tour will put triathletes at the heart of one bigger, clearer and more connected sport. So we are excited to announce the inclusion of events from the World Triathlon circuit and Challenge Family. As well as being fantastic events in their own right, they will ensure the history, emotion and strong sense of community that makes our sport special remain at the heart of triathlon’s future growth.”

World Triathlon President Antonio Arimany said: “This is a landmark moment for our sport. Challenge Family CEO Jort Vlam said: “Becoming part of the Triathlon World Tour is a milestone for Challenge Family. For more than twenty years our races have been built around the athlete experience. Now, as part of one unified structure, we can help bring triathlon to a much wider audience and inspire more people to take on their own challenge. Bringing the events into the Challenger tier also gives professional athletes a clear pathway from our start lines to the top tier Championship events. Meanwhile our long distance races, headlined by Challenge Roth, remain the home of Challenge full-distance racing. Every athlete, every challenge: that doesn’t change.”

The concept of the Triathlon World Tour was originally announced by the PTO and World Triathlon in December 2025, in response to a fragmented ecosystem in the sport that was holding back growth; a point highlighted by a Deloitte Report commissioned by World Triathlon to assess the sport and reimagine its future and sustainable growth.
