Over 40 Professional Athletes Line Up for Challenge Cagnes-sur-Mer

Challenge Family racing is back to France’s Côte d’Azur this weekend for the second edition of Challenge Cagnes-sur-Mer. This year’s event features a strong professional field with 48 professional athletes competing.

In the men’s field, Jack Moody (NZL) has a great record. The Challenge Family Bonus ranking leader will be challenged by Jordi Montraveta Moya (ESP) and the formidable duo of Will Draper (GBR) and William Mennesson (FRA), who have previously podiumed at Challenge Family races.

The women’s field is equally competitive, with Diede Diederiks (NED), known for her numerous international podium finishes, will compete with Aurelia Boulanger (FRA), currently second in the Challenge Family Bonus ranking, Sarah Schönfelder (GER), and Justine Guerard (FRA), a local favourite.

Challenge Cagnes-sur-Mer is set to grace the French Riviera with its standard and middle-distance events. The race will kick off at 7:00 am on Saturday, 29 June, with the pro men leading the way, followed by the pro women and age group athletes. Athletes will swim in the Mediterranean Sea and tackle two laps of 950 meters each with an Australian exit.  The 96km bike ride includes the foothills above the Mediterranean, the scenic backcountry of Vence, and the Col de Vence of Paris-Nice fame, with an elevation gain of just about 1,000m! The 21.1km run is completely flat as it follows the coastline, lined with spectators throughout, creating a festive atmosphere.
