Challenge Turku is all set to host the Finnish National Championships on 31 July as over 700 athletes line up to take on the central city course at this popular middle distance triathlon.
The weekend includes sprint, junior and Challenge4All events for all the family before finishing with the flagship middle distance race on the Sunday. The prestigious national titles are up for grabs for all Finnish athletes as they do battle over the 113km course which is enjoyed by both athletes and spectators alike. The 1.9km swim course is renowned for the tall ships moored along the river banks and has often been described as like swimming in an open-air museum. Fans can follow the entire swim from along the riverbanks.
The 90km bike takes the athletes across the city to the highway and through the surrounding Finnish countryside, where the race can also be followed from the many bridges crossing the route. The 21km run heads back along the river bank in the city centre where thousands line the course and welcome to welcome the new national champions across the line in the heart of historic Turku, Finland’s oldest city.
