ABOUT THE RACE

RACE INFORMATION

The marathon is a true celebration of runners. Completing a run at the royal distance of 42,195 meters is the dream of many amateur runners. After a two-year hiatus, the run at this distance in 2025 was again held in Gdansk. The city of Gdansk has unique pages in its history. It was here that World War II began on September 1, 1939, it was here that Poland’s first independently self-governing trade unions were established. Finally, it was in Gdansk that social changes were initiated that gave impetus to other societies in Europe, and these gave impetus to bringing down the Berlin Wall or restoring independence to the Baltic republics of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. That is why the seventh edition of the Gdansk Marathon was held under the slogan “Run in the City of Freedom!”.

Race day tips

We want as many people as possible to professionally prepare for the 42,195 m run. That’s why together with the Energa Gdańsk Marathon technical partner, Brooks, we will conduct a training campaign Brooks, Be ready! The campaign will start 12 weeks before the start. Each person registered for the Energa Gdańsk Marathon will receive a weekly training plan, as well as the opportunity to participate in running training with highly qualified coaching staff. In weeks 1-6, it will be one training session per week (Sunday), while in weeks 7-12, it will be two training sessions per week (Wednesday and Sunday).

Side events

Without a doubt, the emotions accompanying the Junior Energa Gdańsk Marathon will be at least the same as those during the race on the main distance. On Saturday, April 18, 2026 the Junior Energa Gdańsk Marathon will take place!
We invite children and youth aged 1-15 to participate. The distances have been adjusted to the age of the participants. Children aged 1-6 will run 200 m, 7-11 will cover 500 m, and the oldest aged 12-15 will cover 1000 m.
Young athletes will run to the same marathon finish line, which the competitors will reach a day later after covering 42,195 m.

The start and finish line of the race will be located at the Polsat Plus Arena Gdansk stadium. The organizer’s idea is that the route of the Gdansk Marathon should run past the most characteristic points of the city such as the European Solidarity Center, the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers, the Gdansk Old Town, the Neptune Monument, the Ergo Arena, the seaside strip, the Roland Reagan Park and the Gdansk Brzeźno pier.
