About the Region
Sardinia is an oasis of greenery, mountains and sea and the mild climate that makes this event a great way to finish the European calendar.
The beautiful South-West coast of Sardinia, its deep blue sea, the white and fine sand beach and the Mediterranean vegetation are the perfect frame for the race.
This area enjoys a microclimate that is one of a kind in Europe, as numerous scientific studies have certified. The mountains behind Santa Margherita di Pula protect the coastline from the cold winds of the north of the island and guarantee more than 300 days of sun a year: a gift of nature that allows our season to run from March to November.
Sardinia is home to some wonderful secrets and pleasures: the enchanting and breathtaking panoramas, the beauty of its immense open spaces, delicious traditional cuisine, and an unspoilt nature that dates back to ancient times. From Forte Village, you can hire a car and in only 45 minutes reach the beautiful city of Cagliari, or hire a bike and discover Nora, one of the first Phoenician allocations founded in Sardinia.
The area of Pula offers 20km of coast, 7,000 hectares of forest, long white beaches of fine sand, small narrow bays between rocky headlands, a sea of glass that reflects and enhances the blue sky. If you are nature lovers you will have plenty of choices in this immense natural heritage.
About the Challenge Forte Village Course
Following the one-lap 1.9km swim in crystal clear water off the Forte Village Resort beach, athletes will take on the single lap 90km bike on fully closed roads through Pula, Domus De Maria, Teulada and Sant’Anna Arresi. The course is technical, including a long 7km descent, but spectacular with its breathtaking coastal section along one of the world’s most scenically renowned roads. The final two-lap 21km run is along the coast, including the beautiful Cala d’Ostia beach, before finishing in the heart of Forte Village Resort.
