Challenge Barcelona Triathlon 2026 continues to generate huge excitement within the triathlon community and is already close to reaching 2,000 registered participants, even though there are still months to go before the event takes place on October 24 and 25, 2026.
Following the success of the last edition, Barcelona will once again become one of the major international meeting points for triathlon, with a weekend that will combine sport, personal achievement, and a unique race circuit alongside the Mediterranean Sea.
Registrations remain open through the official Challenge Barcelona Triathlon website, but the organization reminds athletes that places are limited across all race categories and recommends not waiting until the final months to secure participation.
Middle Distance, the flagship race of Challenge Barcelona Triathlon
The main highlight of the 2026 edition will once again be the Middle Distance, which has established itself as one of the most attractive races on both the national and international triathlon calendar.
The race will feature a spectacular course including: • 1,900 m swim • 88 km bike course between Barcelona and Mataró • 21 km run
The cycling course will feature a renewed layout: participants will complete 3 laps instead of 2, creating a more dynamic circuit designed to improve the racing experience. In addition, the course will shorten the previous route to Mataró and will now extend to Vilassar, on fully closed roads.
More and more triathletes are choosing Barcelona’s Middle Distance as their main sporting goal of the season, whether to make their debut at the distance or to chase a personal best in a unique setting.
A weekend for all levels
In addition to the Middle Distance, Challenge Barcelona Triathlon 2026 will maintain a sports program designed for athletes of all profiles:
Saturday, October 24
• Aquathlon • Open Water 1,900 m • Open Water 3,800 m
Sunday, October 25
• Middle Distance • Olympic Distance • Sprint Distance • Junior Challenge
The return of the Olympic Distance is one of the major additions to this year’s edition and reinforces the event’s commitment to offering challenges suited to both amateur athletes and experienced triathletes.
With registrations expected to continue increasing over the coming months, the organization stresses the importance of registering early to be part of one of the leading events on the European triathlon calendar.
