This weekend, Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum will see a strong Southern Hemishphere professional field take on the 112km course in South Korea, which also serves as a qualifying race for The Championship 2026.
In the men’s race, 2023 champion Caleb Noble (AUS), will aim to regain his title but will be up against Mike Phillips (NZL) who already has a win at IM New Zealand, plus two second places to his name this season, and Nicholas Free (AUS), who has collected multiple podium results in 2025.
The women’s race includes Kate Bevilaqua (AUS), 3rd at Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum last year, Sophie Malowiecki (AUS), who has only podium finishes so far this season, and Sarah Thomas (AUS), 4th at Challenge Taiwan earlier this year.
The fast, flat course takes athletes across the world’s longest seawall along South Korea’s beautiful coastline and past natural heritage sites.
Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum takes place on Sunday, 17 August, with the pro men starting at 7:00 am local time. Live timing will be available at www.challenge-family.live and on our social media channels.
