Wahoo – the global leader in smart training – has officially launched a new partnership with CHALLENGEFAMILY, one of the leading global triathlon event organisers. Wahoo joins CHALLENGEFAMILY in a three-year commitment, which will see them as the ‘Official Global Training Partner’ and will be present at all 31 CHALLENGEFAMILY races worldwide – including CHALLENGEDAYTONA 2020, which took place last weekend, on Saturday 5th December where Wahoo’s ELEMNT RIVAL Multisport watch debuted in its first Official competitive race.
Wahoo’s partnership with Challenge extends across their complete ecosystem including ELEMNT Bike Computers, TICKR Heart Rate Monitors, KICKR Smart trainers, Speedplay Pedals and Wahoo’s own Training app ‘The Sufferfest’ as well as the latest product in their line-up the ELEMNT Rival Multi-sport watch. In addition to this Wahoo will also be providing and facilitating a warm-up and training area where athletes and pro’s can ready themselves using the KICKR smart trainer and Headwind fan – ahead of taking to the startline.
Present throughout the race experience, all participants will be able to test out the range of Wahoo hardware and software at the pre-race exhibition. They’ll be showing off the extensive range of Wahoo hardware – including the KICKR smart trainer, CLIMB & Headwind, ELEMNT Bike Computer, TICKR heart rate monitor, and Speedplay pedals and Wahoo’s Training App.
This includes the season’s opening event in Daytona, Florida USA, where Iron triathlete legend Lionel Sanders, Team GB Olympic athletes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, as well as US triathlete Heather Jackson and Australian Sarah Crowley, competed.
The partnership announcement comes hot off the heels of the launch of Wahoo’s ELEMNT RIVAL multi-sport watch. Wahoo’s first entry into the multisport watch category uses the same easy-to-set up, and easy-to-use platform and mobile app as Wahoo’s ELEMNT GPS cycling computers. RIVAL tracks all standard run, bike, and swim metrics and can also track advanced running dynamics when paired with the Wahoo TICKR-X heart rate monitor. Following workouts, data is available in the Wahoo companion app and can be automatically uploaded to third-party platforms like TrainingPeaks and Strava. RIVAL also connects with ANT+ and Bluetooth sensors and can control Wahoo KICKR smart trainers.
Commenting on the new partnership, Wahoo’s CEO, Mike Saturnia, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with ChallengeFamily for the coming years to bring a wider range of triathletes to the racing scene. Wahoo are proud to partner with a brand that values their athletes so much and we look forward to supporting the pros and amateur racers as they take to the start line from Daytona and beyond.”
Wahoo is a brand that focuses perfectly on the athlete”, says CHALLENGEFAMILY CEO Jort Vlam. “That is something that fits exactly with what we stand for with CHALLENGEFAMILY: ‘It’s all about the athlete’. Thanks to Wahoo, athletes can prepare their races in any way they want. They recently launched their brand new Wahoo ELEMNT RIVAL for example, a multisport watch that allows athletes to monitor their swimming, cycling and running training. Thanks to the Wahoo Kickr, athletes can also complete all their indoor workouts in the best possible way. At all our events, athletes can now get to know this beautiful brand if they are not familiar with it yet.”
