Challenge Roth Extends Its Legacy with Fourteenth ‘Race of the Year’ Title at Sailfish Night

Challenge Roth has once again reaffirmed its place at the pinnacle of our sport. At this weekend’s celebrated Sailfish Night of the Year gala, the iconic race claimed the coveted “Race of the Year” title for an unprecedented fourteenth consecutive time – a testament to the passion, precision and community spirit that define the event.

This year’s win came with a resounding 51% of the public vote, placing Roth well ahead of the World Championship races in Hawaii and Nice, which secured second and third place with 18% and 11%.

But the evening wasn’t only about standout races. Sailfish Night also highlighted the athletes who shaped the season. On the international stage, Solveig Lovseth, Lucy Charles-Barclay and Kat Matthews were recognised among the women, while Casper Stornes, Kristian Blummenfelt and Hayden Wilde received honours on the men’s side. Germany’s Laura Philipp and Jonas Schomburg were named National Athletes of the Year.

A very special moment as well was when Alice Walchshöfer was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award in the triathlon scene, affectionately known as the ‘Triathlon Oscars’. With her passion, dedication and tireless commitment, she has shaped the sport of triathlon in Roth and far beyond for decades.
