Challenge Almere-Amsterdam is heading toward another unforgettable edition, with registrations for 2026 surging faster than ever. Just released by the organization: sixty percent of all available race slots have already been claimed.
The event – widely regarded as the Netherlands’ flagship triathlon – welcomes roughly four thousand athletes each year. At the heart of the race weekend is the iconic Long Distance, featuring 3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of biking, and a full marathon. Once again, the Long Distance will host both the European and Dutch Championships, continuing a long-standing tradition of elite racing on the fast, flat Almere course. Alongside the main event, athletes of all ages and abilities can take part in the Middle Distance, Aquathlon, Junior Challenge, Kids Run, and a variety of additional side events that bring the entire community into the celebration.
The 2026 edition carries special significance: Challenge Almere-Amsterdam will celebrate its 45th birthday. With more than four decades of racing heritage, the event proudly holds its place as Europe’s oldest Long Distance triathlon – and the second-oldest triathlon worldwide.
Athletes hoping to secure their spot are encouraged to register soon, as entries are disappearing quickly. Registration remains open at challenge-almere.com.
